Lacoste Envisions the Future of Tennis

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

I like tennis. That’s probably not a surprise if you’ve been reading this blog. In fact I’m typing this while watching an epic battle between Nadal and Djokovic from Queen’s Club, in the warm-up to the Championships at Wimbledon. I’m already salivating for some strawberries and cream. Maybe I can even find a bottle of Pimm’s at the British shop off the Promenade?

If you happened to watch any of the French Open on Tennis Channel a few weeks back, you probably caught hold of lots of promos and spots devoted to French tennis legend and innovator Rene Lacoste. Well, the other night I was presently surprised to see a new Lacoste animated commercial that invites viewers to imagine how Lacaste will have reinvented the game of tennis in another 75 yrs. It’s a cool commercial that makes Lacoste seem a lot cooler than its clothing actually looks. The company is reinventing its line of apparel and footwear. Andy Roddick’s switch to Lacoste has certainly benefited them as well. Take a look at the spot below, and if you’re inclined, I’d also check out the official website below for the campaign because it’s filled with lots of cool goodies and a few documentaries. They even have official downloadable versions of the spot for iphone and psp.

Vive le tennis! Merci Monsieur Lacoste!
